About Project
AI Olfactory Mapping of New York City
Scentscapes is an AI-driven visualization project that transforms New York City’s invisible scent landscape into a living, evolving digital experience. Developed through a collaboration between Hagia and Karun Studio, the project reimagines the city not through sight or sound, but through smell mapping its collective olfactory memory using big data, artificial intelligence, and generative design.
At its core, Scentscapes explores a simple yet powerful question:
What does a city smell like and how can that memory be visualized?

Project Goal
The goal of Scent of Cities is to transform collective digital memories into an immersive AI-powered olfactory map that redefines how we experience urban identity. By translating scent-related narratives into generative visual environments, the project creates a new sensory interface between people, data, and the city.
Develop an AI-driven system that extracts, analyzes, and visualizes scent narratives from large-scale digital data sources.
Reimagine urban mapping through sensory storytelling, positioning smell as a powerful medium for collective memory and emotional connection.
Create an immersive, cinematic visualization environment that bridges big data, generative art, and spatial experience.
